Katya Hutter specialises in luxury, bespoke floral designs for clients around the world. "My work captures timeless beauty, while reflecting the unique spirit of each client and occasion," she says. Her sculptural arrangements carry a sense of an emotion, a story or an idea that speaks to the admirer, ultimately connecting with them. Katya found her calling after being inspired by the wondrous variety of flowers in a local flower market in Aalsmeer, the Netherlands. The world of blooms opened up to her, drawing her towards Paris and the Japanese master floral designer Atsushi Taniguchi, who taught her the importance of pay attention to each individual flower. Today, Katya crafts award-winning artistic floral experiences inspired by the wonder and beauty of nature. Her style is refined, abundant and poetic, and each of designs is seasonal and nature-inspired.

- What are your specialisations?
- I use different techniques and try to work as sustainably as possible. I am skilled in bouquet making, large urn arrangements, centrepieces and floral installation. I also create floral arrangements for interiors using dry and hand painted flowers.
- Where do you find inspiration?
- Art is a huge source of inspiration for me, such as the recent exhibition at the Mauritshuis in The Hague with a collection of paintings of floral arrangements by Dutch and Flemish painters from the 16th and 17th centuries.
- How do you express tradition and innovation in your work?
- As an admirer of garden style, I use many traditional techniques and natural combinations of flowers and foliage. When I look at paintings by Dutch masters, I spot some ideas that we still use today. I feel good about it, and I value this connection that goes through the centuries.
- What is a highlight in your professional life?
- I was delivering my flowers to a big hotel and the lift boy helped me to bring the flowers up. We stood by the elevator with the flowers next to us and he said, “these flowers remind me of summer days when I was a kid, so warm and sunny.” It was magical to connect with his memories in this way.
