Bending energy and skill

  • Tiffanie handcrafts furniture, using steam and cold wood bending techniques
  • Her designs aim to reconnect humans with natural materials
  • Each piece is made without nails or screws

With a background in automotive, fashion, and furniture design, Tiffanie Baso transitioned into woodworking after training with a master artisan in wood bending. Inspired during her final year of automotive studies, she became a self-taught artisan and opened her own workshop in 2019. This is when she created her first piece, the Slacken ergonomic chair. Tiffanie's focus is on custom, limited-edition furniture, particularly seating, which she builds using steam bending as well as cold wood bending techniques. Her designs are influenced by nature and aim to reconnect humans with natural materials, emphasising beauty, comfort, and movement. Each piece is handcrafted without nails or screws, exemplifying both technical skill and emotional energy. Tiffanie embraces a personal, organic approach to her craft and has integrated leather into her latest collection.

Tiffanie Baso is a rising star: she began her career in 2019.

INTERVIEW

I chose this profession because it allows me to explore emotion through materials, to bend wood as if shaping a story, and to create objects that resonate with those who own them. Mison Magdeleine, my studio, was born from this passion: combining craftsmanship and design to give furniture a soul.

I strive to reconnect humans with nature by showcasing the beauty and comfort of materials that are in constant motion.

I enjoy bringing value to a traditional craft while infusing it with the soul and energy of history, constantly reinventing it with my own vision.

I focus on the intellectual, emotional and functional approach to my work, integrating the energy I transmit from my hands into each step of the making process. Each piece, designed to combine aesthetics and functionality, is made by me, without nails or screws, in order to preserve the purity of the gesture and the integrity of the material.
