When Thierry Jeannot arrived in Mexico in 1996, he discovered artisans with a strong anchoring in traditional craft knowledge. “I began observing their gestures, tools and techniques, and then started working alongside them,” he recalls. Earlier, while studying in Paris in the 1980s, Thierry had begun designing acrylic and rubber earrings and bracelets, which he sold in shops across the city. “I worked with unusual materials, oversized forms, raw metals, acrylic, burnt plastic and rubber," explains Thierry. Today, in Mexico, his practice pivots on the reinterpretation of classical lighting forms crafted from recycled PET plastic, inviting a alternative outlook on the value of waste.
