When Vittoria Camerino Martinetti established her workshop in Florence, Tessilarte was just a small artisan space dedicated to making handmade, linen tablecloths. Over the years, the reputation of the atelier grew, thanks to Vittoria’s passion for fabrics and her creative flair. At a time when household linens were all white, Tessilarte boldly introduced colours and exclusive designs, soon conquering overseas markets. Nowadays the atelier is run by Vittoria’s daughter, architect Paola Martinetti Graziano, who has been the creative mind behind the collections since 1969.
The atelier’s production has expanded, and now includes cotton bed linen, either embroidered or printed with natural or geometric motifs, and high quality bath linen. However, innovation has not erased tradition. Tessilarte’s headquarters are still in their historic location in Florence, and the old manual looms are still there to be admired – a tribute to the most ancient and cherished techniques. Above all, what has remained unchanged is the love and care that goes into every single creation, making it precious and unique.
