Founded in 1861 by Peter Reed, this linen manufacturer began in Lancashire, the heart of Britain’s historic cotton industry. Known as Cottonopolis, the region produced two-thirds of the world’s cotton fabrics in the 19th century. By 1891, Peter Reed operated 748 shuttle looms at Springbank Mill, making it one of the largest weaving mills globally. In 1968, the company introduced the UK’s first automatic loom, which revolutionised textile production.
Peter Reed is celebrated for its bespoke linens, meticulously hand-stitched for a crisp, tailored finish. The manufacturer offers customisation of designs with embroidery and monograms, ensuring elegance and individuality for its clients. Awarded a Royal Warrant in 2008, Peter Reed’s linens have graced Royal Households for several decades. Today, luxurious fabrics are sourced from Italy and crafted at Butterworth Mill in England.
