Contemporary furniture in the hands of progressive makers

Silverlining is a small workshop that evolved into a multifaceted furniture maker founded by Mark Boddington in 1985. In the workshop, cabinetmakers, marquetry artists, leather specialists, and finishing and laser experts work together to handcraft furniture pieces with centuries-old craftsmanship and modern technology. Silverlining's design studio and R&D department explore the intersection of traditional craftsmanship, progressive design, and advanced technology. In doing so, they develop innovative materials, techniques, and forms that expand the possibilities of contemporary furniture design.

This spirit of innovation extends to Silverlining’s workshop. Skilled craftspeople reimagine time-honoured techniques to create distinctive finishes, from stacked leather and custom-dyed straw end grain to laser micro-etching and hand-carved, sand-cast aluminium, all of which are unique to the company. The manufacturer is also shaping the future of craftsmanship through the Silverlining Academy of Skills, which was established to preserve and advance rare and specialized techniques. The academy offers an intensive, paid training programme that equips trainees with expertise in cabinetmaking, finishing, laser marquetry, CNC programming and advanced leatherwork. As Silverlining enters its fifth decade, it remains committed to advancing design excellence.
