Glass in a plethora of techniques
- Florian conceives, draws and sculpts glass with his own hands
- He worked on the restoration of Henri Matisse's stained glass windows
- He has his own gallery, Verrtige, adjacent to his atelier
Florian Rosier's journey in his craft began at 15, when he discovered the beauty of stained glass. He apprenticed with a master for seven years and obtaining a diploma as a certified glass creator. Florian explores fusing, thermoforming, glass paste and stained glass in his workshop, Atelier Vertigge. There, he creates unique pieces such as lighting, stained glass windows, vessels and contemporary sculptures. "Glass is a daily adventure, a passion that continues to evolve with each new technical challenge," he says. “It is an infinite language. The more I master the material, the more horizons it reveals to me.” Today, Florian collaborates with luxury houses like Van Cleef & Arpels and designers such as Jean-Louis Deniot.

INTERVIEW
I discovered stained glass while I was boarding at a school housed in a former abbey. During church services, I would spend my time gazing at the stained glass windows.
I work a lot with lost wax casting and other mould-making techniques, and I mainly work with cast glass. The creative stages are centred around sculpture and modelling.
The best part of my job is nailing the tricky sculpting and modelling work. When I finally open the mould after the glass has fused, I feel pure joy, like a kid on Christmas morning.
What sets my work apart is my range of know-how in tackling complex, innovative projects.
