Leather baskets with charm
- Pedro paints on leather
- He is inspired by urban settings and nature
- He is constantly researching his craft
Although his workshop only officially opened in 2019, Pedro Castillo had already begun to conduct research studies of different drawing and painting techniques with the master Sisto Pasacale in 2016. "From that moment, my passion for art and design coexisted with the traditional leather goods that I develop in my studio. My painting and mixed techniques are where I investigate the link between materials and the perception of materials, such as leather, ceramics and wood", says Pedro. Since then, he works on forming leather goods and painting on leather. "I consider myself an almost self-taught artist, in permanent training. My pieces are attempts because I consider that none of them are totally finished".

I express it through traditional techniques that are maintained over time. I innovate in current technical resources and materials to revalue these techniques.
I make traditional leather goods with a twist of contemporary art. My art is fundamentally abstract and contemporary, with inspirations and emotions born in the urban environment, which I love deeply.
Once we did a fashion designer exhibition, EFECTO, in an event held at the Legislative Palace. The idea was to approach fashion from a different point of view, moving away from the mere aesthetic concept towards a creative activity and generating a cultural identity in the process.
I think that as long as we can express ourselves through our hands, our minds and our body, art will remain alive in all its dimensions, even in the artisan field, projecting the old traditions.
