This sculpture by Tomoko Konno was crafted from countless components of marbled, multicoloured porcelain clay, worked by hand into masses of tightly packed follicles using the nerikomi technique. Ambiguous in both its intricate details and overall form, the work is simultaneously colourful and grotesque, evoking conflicting feelings of aesthetic delight and existential dread.
