These jars by Haiming Jiang were hand decorated over minimalist ceramic forms. Metal foil was applied to semi-dry lacquer and encapsulated beneath successive translucent layers. This process was repeated several times to create lustre and subtle tonal variations. With layered floral motifs conveying a sense of depth, and insects bringing the composition to life, the works celebrate the vitality of nature.
