Metal, Wood
These bird houses were created during Homo Faber Fellowship 2024/25 by woodcarver Stian Korntved Ruud based in Norway, and Norwegian fellow Vera Marianne Bain. They were crafted using wood sourced in the Oslo Botanical Garden, primarily offcuts from park maintenance. The pieces draw inspiration from the architectural geometry of the Art Deco period, as well as the 1927 Fritz Lang film Metropolis, whose imagery and themes were themselves profoundly influenced by the period's aesthetic.
