©Luigi D’AmatoOrnamental Box
This is a box with a lid. It was hand turned from mahogany wood and then intricately pierced to create a delicate openwork structure, inspired by architectural ornamentation. The repeating pattern recalls Gothic windows and the geometric screens found in traditional architecture, where light and shadow become integral elements of the design. Through the interplay of material, light and negative space, the piece explores the connection between architecture and woodcraft.
