These sculptures by Conrad Shawcross were cast in bronze and patinated in black. The formations spiral downwards to a hexagonal base plate and are stamped with a ratio. The works in the Manifold Studies represent the scale of musical notes within the European tradition of music, expressed as a mathematical ratio. The visual composition can be described as a chord falling into silence. Exhibited are Unison 1:1, Perfect Fourth 4:3, Octave 2:1, Minor Second 16:15, Diminished Fifth 25:18.
