In this piece, a rectangular, wooden-framed field of ceramic shards made from fired clay takes on the appearance of torn cardboard. The uneven fragments are glazed with blue and white anatomical forms, as if pieces of porcelain, drawing and packaging had been collaged into a single surface. Rodrigo Torres plays with material doubt as what looks temporary and discarded is, in fact, ceramic and shaped into permanence.
