This piece is a glazed stoneware vessel that appears ancient and contemporary at once. Its rounded, lidded form is divided into shard-like sections, where fragments of colour, pattern, drawing and photographic imagery are brought together across a surface that resembles torn cardboard. Rodrigo Torres turns the vessel into a kind of ceramic archive as what appears patched, fragile and provisional is fired into permanence.
