Julia Isidrez learned how to work with clay from her mother, artist Juana Marta Rodas. Her studio is based in a noted ceramics production centre in Paraguay, where the indigenous craft knowledge of the Guarani people has been passed down the generations from as far back as the pre-Columbian period. Julia and her mother have always honoured those traditions and followed the techniques of their ancestors. Her pieces extend beyond traditional pitchers and jars and typically feature representations of animals characteristic of her region. Julia has exhibited widely around the world, and her works are held in the collections of art museums including the Fondation Cartier pour l'Art Contemporain in Paris.
