Alice & Patrícia: Weaving

Weaver Alice Aranha based in Portugal & Portuguese fellow Patrícia Ribeiro

Based in Caldas da Rainha, Alice began weaving at 16. Her practice encompasses hand spinning, natural dyeing and a range of textile techniques. She works closely with nature and raw materials, bringing together slow, labour-intensive processes that resist the pace of contemporary life, and engaging with materials in their natural rhythms.

Patrícia graduated from the textile arts course at Coimbra’s CEARTE in 2025 and is driven by a commitment to preserving ancestral techniques and celebrating the intricacy and beauty of handmade textiles. She seeks to strengthen her career as an artisan by working with others to deepen her skills across a range of weaving processes.
