Nannini Mirto
Stone marquetry
Marina di Pietrasanta, Italy
A legacy of monumental stone
Nannini Mirto revives the ancient art of Florentine commesso, a stone inlay technique born in the Renaissance workshops of Florence. The craft relies on composing artworks using marble and hard stones of several colours, cut and shaped precisely so that the joinery lines remain invisible. The atelier reinterprets this heritage through a contemporary lens, bridging centuries-old tradition with modern aesthetics. From artistic flooring and wall coverings to bespoke architectural elements, the studio's craftsmanship has earned international recognition and numerous awards.
The story began in 1952, when Mirto Nannini opened a small workshop in the historic centre of Petrasanta. Today, the atelier has evolved into an exclusive producer of stone inlay in the stone and marble sector. Mirto Nannini has undertaken monumental projects worldwide, including the flooring restoration in Milan Cathedral, Prince Rainier's room in Monaco, Windsor Castle in England and numerous royal residences in Oman, Qatar and Azerbaijan. The atelier maintains a strong commitment to quality, overseeing every stage from raw stone and marble selection and pattern design to final installation.
