What began as a modest lutherie restoration project for Andrew Manicaro quietly revealed a lifelong calling. From his workshop in Malta, he builds custom electric guitars and designs each instrument to match the exact specifications of its future player. Andrew's range spans standard six-string instruments to extended-range seven and eight-string models. Creative autonomy is at the heart of his practice, as he works with complete control over every detail, from tonewoods to hardware. His instruments have found their way into the hands of players across the globe, from the USA to Japan and Canada.

INTERVIEW
My inspiration is not bound by geography. I am driven primarily by my own creative vision, one that I believe could take root and flourish anywhere in the world. What matters most is not the landscape outside my workshop, but the ideas that emerge within it.
To me, digital precision and handwork are equally essential to the making of a fine instrument. There is, however, a particular moment I return to again and again: when the guitar rests on the bench, ready to receive its strings. It is then that the instrument truly comes alive.
The deepest satisfaction lies in the journey from thought to object. Beginning with nothing more than an idea and a selection of raw materials, I transform that vision into something entirely singular.
Traditional tonewoods have earned their place in lutherie for good reason, and I respect their legacy. While I do take my clients' requests into account, every choice I make ultimately responds to one question: what tone must this guitar have?
