Skull
This sculpture is a porcelain skull, made entirely of earthenware and modelled by hand without the use of moulds. "Adorned with flowers and phalluses gilded in fine gold, this erotic skull is inspired by a famous Italian majolica on which is written: "Ogni homo me guarda come fosse una testa di cazzi," which means "All men look at me as if I had a head of knots." The original piece is Testa de cazi by Francesco Urbini, 1536, which is held at the Ashmolan Museum Oxford," explains Catheirne Azoulai. This piece was presented at the 2022 Art+ biennial at the Château de Changé in France, as part of an installation entitled Le boudoir, created in collaboration with visual artist Sandrine Housseau. Le boudoir was the culmination of several years of work with the artist on the theme of eroticism.
