White leather box with classic gold leaf motif

This is a precious box entirely handcrafted in cardboard, covered in cream leather. The leather cuts are decorated with gold leaf thanks to the technique of gold tooling, before being assembled. This very ancient method allows the master to impress lettering or a decorative design thanks to a hot tool, through a sheet of 22 or 23 carat gold leaf onto a leather, paper or cloth surface. Brass wheeled rolls and hammer stamps are used to impress a continuous design or a decoration into leather.
