This decorative element called a cartela belongs to the altarpiece of the Holy Lord of Consolation. It is made out of carved wood, and has been gilded in fine water-based gold, while the central oval is painted using the egg tempera technique. The piece can be found in Torralba de Calatrava, Spain.
