Memento Mori

Based on an original work from Pompeii created in the 1st century AD, this micro-mosaic was made using the Roman cutting technique. The theme of the mosaic, Memento Mori (“remember that you must die”), goes back to ancient Greece and is reflection on the briefness of life, exploring how the arrival of death pushes aside notions of social class.
