Schager mes – Dutch traditional knife

This type of local Dutch knife was quite famous throughout Europe around the 15th century, but production mostly ceased by the 19th century. When Dave Van Wijngaarden was invited to participate in research by the historical association of Schagen for a book on the matter, he decided that he would be the first bladesmith in 200 years to start making this knife again. Dave was granted permission by the Mayor of Schagen to use the original mark, which makes it the only official ‘Schager mes'.
