Fern strata

This is a textile collage wall-hanging, made from fine silks and cottons. The leaf shapes are created with Cyanotype printing, using the sun's rays. Several layers of fabric and stitch make up the image; backing cloth, wadding and more stitching make up the finished textured piece. It is inspired by the natural world, leaf forms & fossilised leaves. The delicate layers of the blue silk catch the light in different ways throughout the day.
