Library in a townhouse

Thomas Schmitter designed every aspect of this space, from the wooden parquet to the final plaster details, in the spirit of 18th century design. The work was partly done by himself and partly by others under his direction. Wooden columns were turned on a lathe and the panelling assembled using traditional joints. In designing a space it is important to consider the architectural layout of the rooms, which requires a high degree of interpretative power.
