Porcelain
These sculptures by Hitomi Hosono were wheel thrown and decorated with porcelain sprigs, each individually moulded and hand carved. The intricate surfaces capture the textures and structures of plants. Depicting species associated with the artist’s childhood memories, the pieces connect her Japanese heritage with her present life in England. The emerging buds symbolise renewal, while remaining rooted in the past.
