Stoneware, Decorative objects
These jars by Nicole Ryder were coil built from stoneware. The surfaces were painted using the artist’s hair as a brush, allowing intuition and bodily movement to guide the marks. Using the moon jar as a symbol of femininity and the subconscious, the works transform the vessels into canvases for expression beyond conscious control.
