Nehe
This piece is made from harvesting bark from the mulberry wauke tree, and beating it into cloth using traditional Native Hawaiian practices. A patterned watermark is pressed into the fibers during the final beating and natural pigment and gold leaf are then applied in meticulous patterning to complete the piece.
