This textile sculpture was created during Homo Faber Fellowship 2025/26 by textile pleater Harumi Sugiura based in France, and Italian-Colombian fellow Marcella Giannini. The two panels that comprise this piece are made with ramie, a textile fibre chosen for its ability to absorb natural pigments, and dyed with the katazome technique, a stencil-based resist-dyeing process. Through pleating, the textile is transformed into a sculpture.
