This piece is part of Tinka, an ongoing body of work. It is set on a laser-cut birchwood base and is inspired by glass micromosaics and wood marquetry. Riddhi Patel assembles slivers of various stems, grasses, leaves and fibres traditionally used in Indian basketry and woven crafts. It is made with sikki grass, palm leaf, sisal fibre, coir, bamboo, palm fibre and moonj grass sourced from India, and is dyed with food-grade colours.
Homo Faber Finds is a new service aiming to inspire admirers of craft to connect and collaborate with exceptional artisans.
