This binding for Homer’s famous epic, the Iliad, was made with cowhide. The covers of the binding were printed with a neoclassical style gusset motif and a meander motif in between, in gold gilding. On the spine, the title of the Homer epic is inscribed on a stone base. Embroidered in the form of an arc is the epic's opening sentence.
