Smocking: Recovering Historical Textile Memory

Yolanda Sánchez explores disused textile techniques from the Basque Country, such as smocking. This prototype in felted native wool used an original blanket from La Papelera factory in Errenteria. Yolanda pleats the textile by hand, creating designs that evoke the factory’s history and its workers, preserving their memory through her textile art.
