In Retreat. The Whaling., Jody Loaring constructs a two-level rectangular architectural temple form with a golden peaked roof at each corner, set on a platform of pieced driftwood sticks. She uses gold leaf to adorn the opening of the temple, while the rest of the sculpture appears to have the quality of bone or clay, but is in fact, plaster armature.
