Square Bowl with Wavy Handle

This square basket-like bowl was carved from white alabaster. The shape of this piece challenges the convention that sculptures are typically immobile. According to Oliver Cook, they can now be considered, held and moved by the viewer and placed to catch and gently diffuse light in their environment.
