Archive cabinet with shutter door

This piece is Germán Peraire's personal interpretation of the mid-19th century French archive cabinet. When opened, the shutter door rolls down into a hidden compartment at the foot of the piece. The marquetry pattern inspired by the work of Gaspar Homar flows uninterrupted through the slats of the blind, which posed an interesting technical challenge. The Lebanese cedar drawer bases provide an intoxicating fragrance, known for its insect-repelling quality. The gold leaf design was created in collaboration with Xènia Garrofé and Beatriz Zuazo. The construction of this piece was documented and published in Furniture & Cabinetmaking Magazine and was also a finalist in the Wood Review Maker of the Year award 2023, world category.
