Aesculus collector’s cabinet

The design of this small collector’s cabinet with three drawers is an abstraction of a conker nut. The tiger oak external carcass represents the textural outer shell, supported on six tapered solid brass ‘spike’ feet. The pale sycamore ‘pith’ exposes itself through the carcass top and the two opening doors as a conker shell cracking into its constituent three segments, revealing the smooth, dark wenge drawer ‘nut’ within. The drawers are lined with vegetable tanned leather and finished off with bespoke brass pulls.
