John on the roof

This decorative glazed porcelain box is in the shape of a house with a sloping roof lid, on which a gilded figure of a dog stands out. The lid is decorated with polychrome enamels forming an irregular chequered pattern or cobalt floral motifs on a white background. The box is decorated with dreamlike visions of animal heads, hands and clouds on a background of geometric shapes made with red outlines on a white background.
