This solid oak bench is composed of three thick upright sections, with concealed joinery, whose form is the result of combining cutouts from the same oak tree. As thick sections are not strong enough when the grain is pulled apart, Ciprian devised special oak butterfly keys, buried underneath the seat, to keep everything together. His aim was to explore archaic geometry in his design, through a repetition of vertical segments.
