Gold Trap Brooch

This brooch is designed like a mousetrap. Its base material is gilded copper, to which the artist soldered a fine gold rectangle resembling an investment gold bar. Is it the gold that is trapped here, or have we fallen into the trap of the glitter and splendour of gold? Which will prove stronger: the fixing of the fine gold piece or our longing for the treasure?
