Desert Dune

This rug is handwoven from four hand dyed hues of Norwegian spelsau wool on a linen warp. The mix of colours appears from Pia Jensen's use of three treads at the same time, while weaving. Standing in a desert and seeing the light dance on the sand dunes is a tremendous experience. The wavy sea of sand is like a rug that wants to levitate and take to the sky. Pia sought to reproduce the phenomenon, although it took all her skills to make it stay put on the floor.
