On a square, oak wood base, a brass tube supports a spherical vase made of terracotta, with thousands of small holes and embedded glass spheres. The upper part of the vase has a convex copper lid with a small terracotta bird as a knob. When it is dark, a bulb inside the vase makes light shine through the holes, creating the effect of a starry sky.
