Wooden hamman bucket with rope

Ali Essalhi manufactures these traditional hammam buckets. They are usually made with cedar wood as Fez is surrounded by huge cedar forests. Cedar wood is traditionally used because of its solidity and its wonderful scent. The 16 wooden slats are assembled together like a puzzle and then bound with copper bands to maintain the structure and water-tightness. A thick hemp rope allows the bucket to be carried.
