Jude & Claire: Weaving

Weaver Jude Cassidy based in the UK & British fellow Claire Dark

Weaver Jude has spent over two decades developing her skills in weaving and textile design, and lectures at Ulster University. She has designed fabrics for prestigious clients including Dior, Chanel and Hermès, as well as leading hotel groups, and is one of the last remaining hand weavers on the island of Ireland.

A graduate of Belfast School of Art, Ulster University, Claire has developed an innovative practice using woven textiles for acoustic panelling and three-dimensional cloth structures. Inspired by storytelling and place, she weaves with local and reclaimed materials and places importance on understanding the workings of the loom and how to repair it herself.
