Artefact Mosaic is the studio where Alessandra Di Gennaro and Romuald Mesdagh, both of whom trained at the Friuli Mosaic School in Spilimbergo, create custom-made mosaics in marble, Venetian and Murano glass. The charming workshop is located in the Castello district. The visit is an opportunity to see Alessandra and Romuald at work, as they explain the different techniques, such as Byzantine and contemporary, and the stages involved in mosaic making, from segmenting the image into areas of colour to the final rendering. Visitors can see the tools of the craft, and observe how tiles are cut from the different materials, one by one, using a special hammer. Please note that this visit is free and can accommodate up to 5 people.
