A look at marquetry near Valence

with Pierre-Henri Beyssac

The history of marquetry

In your visit to his atelier, Pierre-Henri Beyssac offers complete immersion into the world of marquetry through a historical discovery of the tools and techniques used from the 15th century to the present day, from the marquetry knife to the laser cutter. The visit will include a presentation of marquetry with an exhibition of completed examples, together with an explanation of all the tools and supports as a way of explaining the different stages of manufacture. You will also learn the different materials used, and the way they can be presented: wood – of course – but also parchment, horn, mother of pearl or bone. This visit is an introduction to the history of marquetry and its various possibilities.
