A celebration of endangered crafts

Founded in 1997 by Lulu Lytle, Soane is dedicated to creating furniture, lighting, textiles and wallpaper rooted in traditional British craftsmanship. Its workshops across the UK bring together rattan weaving, hand forged and cast metalwork, carving and turning in timber, fine upholstery and a wide range of fabric and wallpaper printing techniques. Soane preserves endangered crafts by reviving workshops and creating new ones, ensuring traditional skills are sustained for future generations.

Soane has a flagship store in Pimlico in London, a showroom in New York and a Wicker Museum celebrating rattan and willow furniture in Leicester, where England’s first commercial weavers practised their craft in the 1870s. The environment is core to the manufacturer's mission, with people and planet at the heart of every decision. Soane’s ethos is based on collaborations and combining multiple heritage skills in a single design, to make pieces built with traditional craftsmanship, made to last for generations.
