A matter of fluidity
- Agustina has a contemporary approach to glass blowing
- She works mixing innovation with tradition
- She is very committed to training students
With glass, Agustina Ros seeks to combine both the elegance of art and the commitment of design. She was born in Argentina and is now based in Barcelona, where she opened her own studio. As an artisan she feeds on the ancient craft of blown glass, but her vision is to create timeless and contemporary pieces. Using the mastery of techniques such as flame work, glassblowing, cold metal work and fuming of noble metals, she creates unique designs. Agustina has developed several techniques to achieve contemporary forms. Her challenge has always been to make the past, present and future coexist.

INTERVIEW
Since I was little I was inclined towards the practice of fine arts. In blown glass I knew that I had found the perfect material for expressing my creativity. I also had many mentors who helped me believe in my abilities and supported me to continue in this profession.
I think respect and admiration for glass are essential. I spent a lot of time practising the fundamental techniques, and only once I felt confident in the mastery of the material did I begin to experiment, to test the limits. In this way I managed to further develop old techniques and mix in contemporary forms.
My main inspiration is dominated by the search to highlight the brightness and reflections that are manifest in glass. The special link of light and space within it allows infinite possibilities of appreciation, something which really inspires me.
I have to say that ten years ago I felt it was almost going extinct, but now after years of being committed to teaching students every month I am proud to say that I feel that there are a lot of people interested and passionate about learning glass techniques. This gives me so much hope.
