Founded in 1866, Pauly & C. | CVM is one of the oldest glass factories in Venice and one of the most distinguished names in Venetian artistic glassmaking. CVM stands for Compagnia di Venezia e Murano, a title indicating the business' dedication to upholding traditional Venetian making techniques and materials. Throughout its history, the firm has trained and nurtured master glassmakers whose works are held in the collections of some of the world's leading art museums. Now owned and run by President Domenico Caminiti, today the company honours its vital heritage. An ongoing project to catalogue and study its historical archive is underway, seeking to enhance its heritage and foster the knowledge and study of glasswork.

For Homo Faber 2026: An Island of Light, a selection of 109 works by Pauly & C. | CVM created between 1910 and 1999 bears witness to the excellence and evolution of the Murano glassmaking tradition. Characterised by light tones including white and amber, and by a rich variety of silhouettes, the works take centre stage in the interplay of light and shadow conceived by Es Devlin, within the installation An Alphabet of Light, where they are arranged on the shelves of the rotating circular library.
