A typical day in Mircea Bule's workshop starts with some coffee and jazz, before the leather master begins to sketch and stitch his new ideas. Mircea established this routine over 35 years of working with leather, having created his first rock and hippie-inspired accessories in the 1980s. After Mircea closed his first business, 74Street Bags, and with his bags worn by international celebrities and featured in fashion magazines, he decided to reinvent his style. Under his new label, Mircea wishes to reach new regions and people, as he says, "I know I still have a lot to give." Working on a century-old Singer machine, Mircea handcrafts stylish, colourful and soulful leather bags and accessories that boast durability and carry a lifelong promise.

How did you start working with leather?
In 1987 I wanted to add a personal touch to my bags, and was limited by the designs available on the market. The promise of a lifetime product appealed to me and inspired me to create a product that was unique, personal, and sturdy.
What was the first object you made?
I created my own hippie bag to take on camping trips and music festivals in the 1980s. It certainly helped me express my style and then led me to create more items, starting with gifts for friends and commissions later.
How did the idea of Stitch’D Leather Goods come about?
I ran a first business called 74Street Bags, and it was time for me to reinvent my style once more. After some brainstorming in the workshop, Stitch’d was born, which is all about bringing the customer’s wishes and designs to life and mixing them with my knowledge to create unique works.
Can you recount a memorable moment in your professional life?
Worldwide recognition has made me realise how far a small dream can reach. Ending up in high-end magazines and being worn by people who know how to appreciate the work behind every stitch have been a real achievement for me.
